Many people get put off meditation because they think it is a very spiritual practice, and that it is complex and difficult. This isn’t the case at all, in fact meditation can be done by anyone and can be simple if you choose it to be. To help those who are new to meditation, here are three simple steps to help you start meditating.

Firstly, you must be comfortable. Sitting cross legged is a very common way for people to meditate but you can sit however best suits your comfort, whether it is on the floor or in a chair, as long as you are comfy enough to relax.

The next step is to close your eyes. If you’d prefer not to close your eyes, you don’t have to. You can simply focus your vision on an isolated, simple item or object.

Finally, you can now focus on your breathing. This is where you can choose exactly how you want to meditate. You could control your breathing rate, hold your breath, or to just breathe naturally. It is important to note that you can do this for a long as you like and as many times as you like in a day, but when meditating do not think about time and don’t rush yourself.
